Amazon Offers Digital Songs To Vinyl Record Buyers

In an odd combination of old and new, Amazon says that every time a person buys a vinyl record from its online store, it will give that customer a digital version of the songs for free.
The feature, called AutoRip, was launched in January for CDs. The company has said it has boosted music sales. Digital songs are stored in the customer’s online storage account with Amazon. Songs received this way don’t count against that customer’s storage limit.

The new offer, announced Wednesday, extends to any physical albums bought on Amazon since 1998.

The digital songs can be played on a variety of devices, including Amazon.com Inc.’s Kindle Fire tablets, Android phones and tablets, and Apple Inc.’s iPads and iPhones.

The Rolling Stones are back on the road.

No more rumors, no more hints from Ronnie and Keith. The Stones announced what everyone was waiting for – concert dates in the springtime leading up to the band’s England appearances at Glastonbury Festival and Hyde Park.
“‘50 And Counting’ has been pretty amazing so far,” Mick Jagger said. “We did a few shows in London and New York last year … and had such a good time that we thought … let’s do some more. It’s a good show. Lots of the classic stuff everyone wants to hear … with a few little gems tucked in here and there. The stage is shaped like lips and goes off into the venue so I get to run around in the crowd. It’s great fun to be able to get that close to the audience.”

Here’s the schedule:
May 5 – Oakland, Ca
May 8 – San Jose, Ca
May 11 – Las Vegas, Nev.
May 15 – Anaheim, Ca
May 25 – Toronto, Ontario
May 28 – Chicago, Ill.
June 12 – Boston, Mass.
June 18 – Philadelphia, Pa.
